Enabling “Free Move” vs “Fixed Placement” In Kixxl

Free Move Feature:

Free move is a setting that, when enabled, allows customers to move outside the canvas of Kixxl Editor. When Free Move is enabled, customers can drag and place their designs anywhere on the gang sheet without restrictions.

Free Move vs. Fixed Placement:

Simply, the Free move feature allows you to place the design on the canvas anywhere.

For example, if you only want a specific part of an image to be printed on your gang sheet, the Free Move feature makes it easy. Instead of cropping the image, you can simply drag and position it so that only the portion you need stays inside the sheet area (canvas). The part of the image that is outside the canvas will not be printed.

(Whatever remains visible on the sheet is what gets printed — anything outside the canvas is automatically ignored.)

Disabling this feature or fixed placement will restrict the movement of designs—allowing you to place them only in predefined (fixed) positions. However, your customers can still add multiple designs, but the editor controls where they fit. 

However, Fixed placement prevents overlapping or misaligned designs. Also, it’s ideal for bulk printing of the same size or logo. On the other hand, Free Move is best for custom, creative, or space-saving layouts.

How to enable “Free Move” In Kixxl?

1. Log in to your Kixxl Admin Dashboard in Shopify and select Products.


2. In the Products tab, you’ll see already configured products. 

3. Select the product for which you want to enable the “Free move” option. 

4. In the product’s Product Configuration Settings, select “Enable” under the Free move option.

5. Click “update” to save the changes.

Go to the Kixxl Editor and use the feature to confirm that it is enabled correctly.
